Taken together, the deal is worth examining not for the individual products — both are mature offerings with track records at other carriers — but for what ITA’s adoption decision reveals about how an airline chooses to connect its operational data ecosystem.
Two Tools, One Underlying Problem
Fuel Insight and FlightPulse address the same fundamental challenge from different angles. Fuel Insight is built for the planning and analysis side: it helps flight ops and network teams understand where fuel is being consumed inefficiently across routes and fleet types. FlightPulse sits closer to the cockpit, giving flight crews access to their own performance data so they can see how their techniques compare to fleet benchmarks. The combination matters because the gap between what analysts identify in the back office and what pilots can actually act on in the aircraft has historically been wide.
